I'm currently working as a professor of economics at Truman State University. I recently moved to Missouri after completing my PhD in economics at UC-Irvine. Before that, I received a B.S. degree in "Mathematics Specializing in Economics" from University of Chicago (2010).

My goal with any student is to guide them towards an intuitive understanding of the material. In economics or mathematics, the right intuition will take you a long way and will render the details of the subject-matter easier to grasp. Moreover, I believe that the gap between what a teacher or textbook says and what a student grasps boils down to a tendency to focus on details to the neglect of the larger framework of ideas. It is hard for teachers to bridge this gap, because expertise in an area makes it easy to take intuition for granted, but as a continuing student who has been tutoring or teaching for the entire time I have been at university, I am in an ideal position to address what is lacking in a student's understanding. Achieving a solid understanding of the reasoning and logic behind a particular subject matter has always been the focus of my own education and deserves the credit for my success; this is the type of understanding I can help you or your child achieve. I am a full-time graduate student in economics at UCI, and I received a BS in mathematics with a specialization in economics from University of Chicago. I tutored my four years at University of Chicago, worked as a teaching assistant at UCI for five years, and have been tutoring privately for several years now.
