Certified (English 7-12) Teacher of 7th/8th grade writing and English in a Public New Jersey Middle school Graduated Susquehanna University 2014 - B.A. in creative writing-secondary education - 3.45 GPA Bridgewater-Raritan High School 2010 - 3.9 GPA I studied at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. I graduated in May of 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in creative writing-secondary education, a 3.45 GPA, and Dean's list each semester. During my four years at Susquehanna University, I was able to study abroad in London, England for three and a half months. There I took literature courses to further enrich my writing and English education.

Experience

Currently, I work privately with students ranging from 4th to 8th grade on their reading and writing skills. Writing especially can be difficult for students, particularly when they don't have an interest in the subject at hand. Through my own private tutoring and my classroom full of 7th and 8th graders, I have found that developing a rapport and a relationship with each student where they feel comfortable allows them to be willing and open to succeeding academically. Students are given ample opportunities to bring their own questions and interests in to the classroom year round. I find this to be very important being that middle school tends to be a tough and even awkward age for most.

Hobbies

I work in a small public school district and volunteer to coach track and cross country. Additionally, I train and run half marathons in my own spare time. I was captain of my high school and college teams. Other interests include, dancing, reading, writing, going to the beach, and hiking. Oddly enough, interests I share with many of my own students include movies and Netflix. This is something I try to incorporate in my classroom and tutoring sessions through relevant writing topics and NEWSELA articles.
