I recently earned my bachelor's degree in Psychology and Cellular Biology & Neuroscience at Rutgers University and next year plan on continuing to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor. In the interim, I decided to continue work as a tutor, which I have done since I was a high school freshman and helped younger students who needed assistance in summer school. My favorite field to tutor is Biology, but I am also comfortable teaching the subjects of Math, Writing, Critical Reading, and Geography. I believe that the best way to learn is by doing, and thus my teaching strategy often involves allowing the students to work through the material on their own and pointing them in the right direction when they have questions or get off track. I think that information is more easily retained when performed by the student rather than simply being shown the correct process by me. I believe proper study skills and techniques are key to learning but it is also important to be able to relax and feel comfortable while learning. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer and video games, staying in shape, and losing myself in a great book.
